Westar Energy selects PleaseReview to aid document drafting efficiency

Chepstow, UK January 21st, 2008: PleaseTech Ltd (www.pleasetech.com), a software company specializing in collaborative document and content review, has announced that Westar Energy, Inc, (NYSE: WR), has selected PleaseReview for document review.
Westar Energy is the largest electric energy provider in Kansas. It serves approximately 673,000 customers and its business includes the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. As a regulated utility, Westar makes numerous filings with regulators including legal pleadings, reports and testimony in a wide variety of matters. These filings are of interest to many departments in the company and are often reviewed and commented upon by numerous employees and officers.
Due to the number of documents Westar must file and the large number of editors, management of the document drafting process was becoming a significant overhead. Westar wanted a product that would allow multiple editors to comment on the same draft of a document at the same time and that would allow the editors to see and comment upon remarks made by other editors. After a comprehensive market survey and evaluation, Westar selected PleaseReview.
PleaseReview provides a secure, collaborative, browser-based environment to manage the document review and authoring process. It enables simultaneous authoring and review of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents, PDFs and images. Users virtually discuss and agree documents with each other, paragraph by paragraph, taking advantage of simple ‘point and click’ review tools. Reviews may be synchronous or asynchronous. The document author or manager has full control of the review and can monitor the users’ progress. All changes and comments are automatically saved in an audit trail.
To date, the use of PleaseReview within Westar has been limited to the rate regulatory process. However, Westar anticipates using PleaseReview for drafting news releases, securities filings and other documents involving multiple editors.
