PleaseReview
technical overview
The user interface to PleaseReview is entirely web based and compatible with all major web browsing platforms. Users can review documents using only the browser based interface and therefore do not need to have MS Office or other applications installed. Users may optionally review the document offline and upload the comments into PleaseReview later.
PleaseReview is a server-based application. This has several advantages:

it does not require any components to be installed on users’ workstations; |

it is compatible with documents created in all recent versions of Office, and; |

it does not require complicated Office macros and plug-ins. |
Note: a plug-in and full Acrobat is required for the detailed review of PDF files. The offline review application is client based.
Documents for review may be uploaded into the system directly using the web interface, or may be accessed from an existing repository such as Documentum or SharePoint Portal Server. This integration allows the review to be incorporated as part of the EDMS document lifecycle.
Users, groups and distribution lists can either be maintained locally in the application or accessed from existing directories such as Documentum, Active Directory or LDAP. Internal users can be authenticated against existing user repositories whilst also allowing external reviewers to authenticate separately and access the application through a suitable secure channel.
PleaseReview also integrates with an email server, sending invitations and reminders to participants, and can also use email to inform the review author of the ongoing status.
PleaseReview is available either as a hosted solution or can be deployed inside the corporate firewall or DMZ.
The server is built around documented APIs and fully supports web services enabling it to be integrated with other applications. The web user interface is controlled by CSS so can be restyled to match a corporate look and feel.
